How to play Missing Multiplier

  1. Look at the multiplication with one factor hidden, such as 6 × ? = 24.
  2. Think which times-table fact gives that product.
  3. Tap the missing number from the five tiles.
  4. A right answer fills the gap and scores; a wrong one counts against you.

For parents and teachers

Products go up to 81, so this is the times tables up to 9 × 9, asked the other way round. 6 × ? = 24 is exactly the question that 24 ÷ 6 asks, which is why practising this game also prepares a child for division. A child who answers quickly knows the table; one who has to recite 6, 12, 18, 24 to get there is close, and a little regular practice will make it automatic.
