How it works
A big analogue clock whose hands can be dragged. Move the minute hand round once and the hour hand creeps on to the next number, the way a real clock is geared; drag the hour hand and the minute hand keeps step. A digital readout underneath shows the same time in figures, in 12-hour or 24-hour form, and can be hidden so the face has to be read on its own; the minute numbers round the outside can be hidden too once counting in fives is secure. Hands snap to the minute or to five minutes, and the arrow keys move them for anyone not using a mouse. The Challenge button asks for a time — show me twenty to five — and hands set to it ring the bell. It ticks as the hands turn, chimes on the hour, and has a pendulum that never stops.
