How to play Decimal Strips

  1. Tap a decimal strip: 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.25, 0.2, 0.125 or 0.1.
  2. Tap a row to drop it in. Each row shows its total as you build.
  3. Switch between one whole and two wholes across.
  4. Press Challenge to get a target, such as 0.7 or 1.25, and build a row that reaches it exactly.

For parents and teachers

This is the fraction wall written in decimals, so a child can see that 0.25 is a quarter and that four of them make 1. The totals are always exact (0.1 and 0.2 make 0.3), which helps a child trust what they see. It works best after the Fraction Strips game, when a child can be asked "which fraction is this strip?"
