How to play Number Line Jump

  1. Choose a level, then press Start game.
  2. Read the number at the top: where is it on the line?
  3. Tap the line, or drag along it, to put the frog there. The arrow keys move it too.
  4. Press Jump. A flag shows where the number really is, and the closer you were, the more you score.
  5. A game is ten jumps.

For parents and teachers

Knowing that 37 is a bit less than halfway to 100, or that 3/4 is closer to 1 than to 0, is number sense, and children who estimate well on a number line tend to do better in maths generally. Encourage your child to think about the middle of the line first: is the number more or less than half? Move up a level once most jumps are close or better.
