Restricted to a branch, each trigonometric function becomes invertible. This course finds principal values and proves and applies the identities of the inverse functions.
The course follows the NCERT Class 12 Mathematics chapter Inverse Trigonometric Functions and has 2 lessons. Each lesson explains the ideas with worked examples and ends with practice questions and full answers. The numbers in every example and question are our own, so the lessons can be used alongside the textbook exercises.
- Principal Values of Inverse Trigonometric Functions — Restricting trigonometric functions to principal branches, domains and ranges of the inverses, graphs, and evaluating principal values.
- Properties of Inverse Trigonometric Functions — Complement, reciprocal and negative-argument properties, the tan-inverse sum formula, substitution, equations and mixed practice.
By the end you will be able to:
- State the domain and principal range of each inverse function.
- Find principal values correctly.
- Use the properties and the tan-inverse sum formula.
- Simplify expressions by trigonometric substitution.
