Top 3 CBSE Intermediate Colleges in Vijayawada: Fees, Rankings, and Coaching

Parents in Vijayawada often search for "CBSE intermediate colleges", but on official CBSE and school websites these institutions are usually described as Senior Secondary schools offering Classes 11 and 12. This guide is for families who want to stay with the CBSE board after Class 10 and need to compare fees, results and exam support from official documents rather than hearsay.

The three schools below were shortlisted because they officially show senior secondary status and clearly mention Class 11–12 offerings on their own websites or in CBSE records. The article also explains how to verify a CBSE school yourself and how to read a fee sheet.

A note on "rankings": no single official government or CBSE page was found that publishes a citywide top-3 ranking for CBSE intermediate colleges in Vijayawada. The order below is an editorial comparison based on verified senior secondary status, official fee transparency, academic and coaching information on school websites, and relevance for Vijayawada families.

The three schools#

1) Nalanda Vidya Niketan, Vijayawada#

• CBSE record: CBSE SARAS lists NALANDA VIDYANIKETAN as a Senior Secondary Level school with affiliation number 130183.
• Classes: the official secondary page presents a Senior Secondary Stage – 11 to 12.
• Science combinations: MPCC, BIPCC, MBIPC.
• Commerce combinations: MEC and IPEC.
• Coaching: the same page says the school offers tailored coaching for JEE, NEET, CUET and board exams.
• Fees: the official pages checked do not show a clearly published Class XI–XII fee amount.

Nalanda is one of the strongest CBSE senior secondary options for families who want a broad academic setup along with competitive-exam readiness. Its admission-related content says the fee structure is available in detail through the school and website, and mentions tuition, admission and transport components, so parents should contact the school for the latest senior secondary fee sheet. The official page also provides Vijayawada campus addresses and admission contact numbers.

It is a strong fit for students who want multiple stream choices, structured academic progression and explicit JEE, NEET and CUET-oriented support from the school itself.

2) Atkinson Senior Secondary School, Vijayawada#

• CBSE record: CBSE SARAS lists ATKINSON HIGH SCHOOL at Senior Secondary Level with affiliation number 130268.
• Fees (official 2025–26 fee structure PDF): Classes XI & XII at ₹16,500 per term, with a total annual fee of ₹49,500.
• Results (official results PDF): Class XII pass percentages of 100% in 2022–23, 100% in 2023–24 and 98% in 2024–25.
• Location: Convent Street, Vijayawada.

Atkinson stands out because its official website makes fee comparison much easier, and it also publishes board-performance data. The site publishes phone and email details for admissions and enquiries. It is especially relevant for parents who care about published board outcomes and straightforward cost visibility.

3) Sri Viswasanthi Educational Institutions, near Vijayawada#

• CBSE record: CBSE SARAS lists VISWASANTI ENGLISH MED. HIGH SCHOOL as Senior Secondary Level with affiliation number 130203, at Gandigunta, Vuyyuru, Krishna district.
• Model: the official website describes a day and residential school for classes up to 12th standard, and its admission enquiry form includes XI–XII.
• Fees (official 2024–25 fee structure PDF): Class XI at ₹75,000 total and Class XII at ₹80,000 total.
• Coaching: the official profile says IIT and Medical foundation courses are taught systematically by experienced faculty, with chapter-wise tests and competitive-exam preparation.
• Results: the mandatory disclosure reports a 100% Class XII pass result for 2022.

Sri Viswasanthi suits families who are open to a school slightly outside the city core and who value a day-plus-residential model. Its residential setup, campus-based positioning and published fee sheet make it a candidate for a more structured Class 11–12 environment near Vijayawada.

The three schools side by side#

Note that the fee figures come from different academic years (2025–26 for Atkinson, 2024–25 for Sri Viswasanthi), so they are not a like-for-like comparison. Ask each school for its current sheet.

How to verify a CBSE senior secondary school yourself#

1. Affiliation. Search for the school on the CBSE affiliation portal (SARAS). Confirm it is listed at Senior Secondary level, not only Secondary, and note the affiliation number.
2. Streams. Read the school's own list of subject combinations and ask which ones will actually run in the coming year.
3. Fees. Ask for the written fee sheet. Check whether amounts are per term or annual, and add transport, hostel and other charges.
4. Results and support. Read the published results document and ask how any entrance coaching fits into the school timetable.

Reading a school fee sheet#

• Per term versus per year. A per-term figure must be multiplied by the number of terms to compare with an annual total.
• Components. Tuition, admission and transport are often listed separately; residential schools may add boarding.
• Academic year. Always check which year a PDF belongs to, because fees can be revised.
• One-time charges. Ask whether admission or deposit amounts are refundable.

Questions to ask before you enrol#

• Is the school affiliated for Senior Secondary, and what is the affiliation number?
• Which subject combinations will run next year, and is there a minimum number of students?
• Is entrance coaching part of the school day or an extra programme?
• What is the full annual cost, including transport or hostel?
• For residential students, how are study hours and weekends organised?

Common mistakes#

• Assuming every "intermediate college" is on the state board; CBSE schools call the same years senior secondary.
• Comparing fees from different academic years as if they were current.
• Treating a per-term fee as an annual fee.
• Choosing a residential school without checking whether the student is ready to live away from home.
• Looking for an official ranking that does not exist instead of comparing documents.

Common questions#

Are these really "intermediate colleges" or schools?#

Officially, CBSE institutions describe Class 11–12 as Senior Secondary rather than intermediate. In practice, many parents in Andhra Pradesh use "intermediate college" when searching for Class 11–12 options.

Which school in this list has the most clearly published Class 11–12 fees?#

Among the sources verified, Atkinson and Sri Viswasanthi publish usable official fee documents. Atkinson shows ₹16,500 per term and ₹49,500 as the annual total for XI & XII (2025–26), while Sri Viswasanthi shows ₹75,000 for XI and ₹80,000 for XII (2024–25).

Which school officially mentions competitive-exam support?#

Nalanda officially mentions JEE, NEET, CUET and board exam readiness on its senior secondary page, while Sri Viswasanthi's official profile mentions IIT and Medical foundation courses.

Which one suits residential schooling near Vijayawada?#

Sri Viswasanthi is the clearest option here because its official website describes it as a day and residential school near Vijayawada.

Which one is best for my child?#

If the priority is streams plus integrated exam readiness, Nalanda Vidya Niketan is the strongest official fit. If it is published fees and board results, Atkinson is the clearest. If it is residential schooling with fee visibility, Sri Viswasanthi deserves serious consideration. Confirm the latest fee revision, subject combinations, transport or hostel rules and admission timelines with the school before deciding.
